Job summary
The primary focus of the Community Resuscitation Trainer (CRT) is the planning, delivery and support of accredited resuscitation training and regulated and non-regulated training in the community served by the London Ambulance Service NHS Trust (LAS). This includes some internal training of LAS staff and external training of a wide range of community groups for clients such as Emergency Responders, Community First Responders, General Practitioners, external organisations, volunteers, community and charity groups.
As the Trust continues to focus heavily on the London Lifesavers project, the CRTs dedicate a large part of their time to supporting and developing initiatives to train the public to save a life in London. This includes developing and delivering 'pop-up' training in public areas such as major train stations, working with external partners to deliver training in a designated location and participating in large scale evets and festivals across the Trust.
The post holder must be clinically current and competent (qualified EAC/EMT or B6 Paramedic) and deliver clinical operational services as required by the First Responder Department and the LAS Trust
Main duties of the job
The CRT will actively promote the work of the Community Resuscitation team and will play a major role in the promotion of the LAS NHS Trust with external agencies. Post holders will be involved in seeking out new work, negotiating contracts, arranging and budgeting for new courses. They will plan, organise, implement and monitor the training delivered by the team.
- Lead in the clinical/technical and professional development of staff and volunteers whilst promoting best practice across the Service and public sector, to improve high standards of patient care.
- Competent in the use of available PC software to prepare and deliver the full range of training and education sessions.
- Using a variety of presentational aids to deliver all clinical, technical and professional training courses to various audiences both internal and external including groups in excess of 30 people.
- Deliver a range of development courses applying effective communication skills to enable students to accept and adapt to changes with Resuscitation Council (UK) guidelines, NHS and LAS policies and procedures.
- Conduct training sessions in a range of non-classroom settings (e.g. commercial companies, sports centres, community centres) to ensure that students are able to manage a range of simulate incidents/situations, and to ensure that established students are updated in order to effectively operate new guidelines as required.
