Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Inpatient services at Blossom Court, St Ann's Hospital. All of our inpatient wards in St Ann's have been awarded the Prestigious accreditation by the Royal College of Psychiatrists' Combined Committee for Accreditation (CCA).

We are recruiting a Band 5 nurses who will be in our wards. In recognition of the high levels of care being delivered at Blossom Court, we have strengthened the management structure on each ward, and will be supplementing the existing structure.

Our inpatient wards aim to offer a safe and secure therapeutic environment to Haringey residents who require treatment in an acute mental health inpatient setting. Our service users come from diverse backgrounds, and we recognise that an admission is an opportunity for growth and recovery. We use a variety of clinical models on our wards and seek to empower our nurses and other staff to offer high quality, evidence based interventions.

Candidates will have the ability to manage a high pressured ward environment and work with acutely unwell service users. They will have highly developed clinical skills, alongside knowledge of a full range of therapeutic skills and approaches across physical and mental health

Main duties of the job

As an effective member of the MDT you will be responsible for the development and facilitation of a patient centred approach to care: assessing, developing, implementing and evaluating the care needs of patients and their carers (supported by a preceptor as appropriate).

Ensure that statutory and legal requirements of care are incorporated safely within each patient's programme of care.

Observe the requirements of the Mental Health Act 1983 ensuring the patient is fully informed of their legal position and their rights under the Act.To interpret the significance of clinical observations, act upon them, makeavailable information to senior nurses and medical staff.

To determine nursing priorities and plan patient care accordingly including full risk assessment, inform the Nurse in Charge when changes in circumstances may affect standards of care.

To meet the physical, psychological, social and cultural needs of the individual and their family, using research based knowledge and skills to maintain the individual's identity.

To recognise the needs of the family/carers, ensuring their involvement in care
