Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for 2 x Band 5 Clinical Research Assistants (full time), to work in the Research & Development Delivery Team at Barnet Enfield & Haringey Mental Health NHS Trust (BEH), under the North London Mental Health Partnership (NLMHP). As a member of R&D, the post holders will the trust's ongoing portfolio of clinical research studies, for a range of mental health, dementia, neurodegenerative, and other related studies, and assist with coordinating and delivering clinical research activity.

It's expected that applicants will have some working knowledge and understanding of clinical research, but this post is an opportunity to build on their existing knowledge andexperience within a research setting.

The post holder will be expected to take a proactive role in the research infrastructure to support commercial and non-commercial studies across BEH. This includes: working with clinical services, to identify, screen, and recruit potential study participants; Carrying out study baseline, follow up, and monitoring visits, with study participants, to collect study specific data and ensure that the research undertaken in the Trust is of the highest standard and in accordance with ICH Good Clinical Practice and other relevant guidelines.

Main duties of the job

To recruit suitable participants to Mental Health, Dementia and Neurodegenerative disorder, and Neurological studies within a range of care settings.

To adhere to defined processes for study set-up, delivery of the research and study closedown while striving to improve the performance of the division against national and local targets and objectives.

To implement agreed courses of corrective action where deadlines and metrics are not being met or are at risk.

To implement research protocols, under the supervision of the Research Consultants or R&D Director

To identify good performance and good news stories for feedback and promotion to stakeholders.

To develop and maintain knowledge of partner organisations' services and resources in order to identify potential recruitment sites for research.

Work collaboratively as a member of the clinical research team across the region, liaising with other CRN delivery staff to problem solve and share ideas and best practice.

The post holder will be required to travel across North London to meet the needs of the service.

Essential

  • Good first degree (in Psychology or health related field), or relevant experience in a research setting.

Desirable

  • MSc in Psychology or other health related field.

EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE

Essential

  • Good knowledge of the principles of research.
  • Knowledge of the processes that are required to conduct research in the NHS (e.g. gaining a favourable ethical opinion, Trust R&D approval).
  • Experience of working with MS Office in particular MS Excel, as well as Word, Outlook, PowerPoint.
  • Experience of working with people receiving healthcare for mental health, dementia and neurodegenerative and neurological disorders.
