Job summary

The post holder will be in the Haringey Young Adults Transitions Team. This is a newly established team that is working to bridge the gap between CAMHS and Adult Mental Health Services.

Main duties of the job

Working with colleagues in the Community Teams to support clients aged 18-25 accessing Mental Health Support.

o Build a therapeutic relationship with young people using a person-centred approach and provide psychologically informed interventions.

o Work collaboratively with CAMHS and Core Locality Teams.o Support clients to access local community resources and statutory services.

o To facilitate group work, under the supervision of senior staff and other clinical work as required.

o Supporting and educating Community Resources to develop mental health awareness and navigation

o Act as a mentor and role model for the ability to have a meaningful life for clients.

o Build relationships with the local community and statutory services and connect clients to those resources and support a 'warm handover'.

o Record client clinical information on the BEH Trust's electronic patient records system (RIO).

Education & qualifications

Essential

  • Minimum of two years working experience in a mental health/health and social care setting.
  • Relevant degree or qualification eg. Psychology, Health & Social Care, Nursing(NVQ or degree)

Desirable

  • Lived experience of mental illness and completed Peer Support training or equivalent.
  • NVQ Level 4 in care or equivalent (or willingness to work towards)

- Exp & knowledge

Essential

  • Understanding of the issues and concerns of mental health service users
  • Awareness and understanding of the functions of Multi-Disciplinary Teams (MDT)
  • Understanding and practical knowledge of recovery, peer support and co-production/involvement

Desirable

  • Experience of managing medium-high levels of interpersonal distress
  • Appreciation of the community resources within the geographical location of the post and key partners
  • Understanding of clinical and managerial supervision

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to remain calm in emergent situations and respond in a professional manner
