Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen within Enfield's Mental Health Inpatient Services. We are looking for an enthusiastic and compassionate Occupational Therapist (OT) to Lead the inpatient therapy team and be part of a new clinical team in Cumbria Villa. Cumbria Villa is based at Chase farm hospital site and is a new step-down pathway from the acute inpatient wards, aiming to open on 1st October 2024.

The Band 7 OT will Lead and have line management responsibility to the inpatient therapy team in Enfield Mental health services; Cumbria Villa, Somerset Villa (inpatient rehab ward), and oversee the OT provision in the Enfield community crisis team. They will also hold a caseload in Cumbria Villa for physical and mental health assessment, treatment, rehabilitation and pre and post discharge arrangements. They will lead and work in partnership with other disciplines to provide an integrated therapies service.The role may involve assessments in the patient's home and providing professional advice which actively informs the teams risk assessments and discharge plans; utilising the MOHO model and other evidence- based assessment tools to establish a baseline functional assessment from which recommendations can determine further on-going care and treatment to enable optimum functioning.

  • Dip. COT/ MSc OT/ BSc OT

Desirable

  • Further relevant training or study (e.g. Sensory Integration training)

Skills

Essential

  • Experience in supervising and appraising junior staff and students.
  • Experience of carrying out functional assessments
  • Experience in managing qualified and unqualified OT and AHP staff.
  • Effective teaching skills as appropriate to both students and staff groups.
  • Effective written communication skills to include assessment and treatment documentation and formal clinical reports for MD team and outside agencies

Desirable

  • Experience of working in in-patient and community environments
  • Experience in the use of the Model of Human Occupation including the use of specific MOHO outcome measures
  • Experience in contributing towards OT service development
  • Ability to relate to people from varied social backgrounds
