Job summary
We are excited to be able to recruit a suitably qualified Band 8a Clinical Psychologist to the Haringey Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS). The successful applicant will be joining an extremely supportive, committed, and dynamic service serving a diverse and vibrant community of children and families.
The CAMHS generic team provides specialist mental health services for children and their families in Haringey. The team is based at St Ann's Hospital. The team consists of Clinical Psychologists, Child and Adolescent Psychiatrists, Child and Adolescent Psychotherapists, specialist Speech and Language Therapists, creative therapists, CAMHS practitioners, Clinical Nurse Specialists and Systemic Family Therapists. The team work closely with colleagues from children's social care, schools and colleges, youth offending services, the Child Development Centre, the Royal Free eating disorder service, the Tavistock Lifespan, CAMHS and LAC teams, third sector providers, Open Door, and adult mental health. The team is co-located with other CAMHS teams including CAMHS-LD, Adolescent Outreach (AOT), CAMHS Access and Trailblazer. The service is a provider of training placements across disciplines including trainee clinical psychologists.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will undertake direct clinical work in the CAMHS generic team, working across both the emotional and neurodevelopmental care pathways. They will contribute to the multi-disciplinary team providing specialist assessment, therapy, consultation, training and supervision as required. They will be a senior member of clinical staff providing specialist knowledge and experience to the team, specifically to support work with complex presentations and circumstances including mental health in the context neurodevelopmental disorder and complex developmental trauma. We're looking for a candidate with experience of working systemically across professional networks and contributing to management of risk. As a senior clinician they will be involved in supporting the development of less experienced staff and contributing to the development of care pathways; shaping the offer and innovating to meet the need of the client group and service objectives.

The service is in the process of adopting the principles of the Thrive model incorporating initiatives to increase resilience and early intervention in schools and the community through the Trailblazer project. It is benefitting from the interest and investment brought by this initiative as well as that of the Learning Disability and Autism Strategy (formally transforming care) agenda.
Haringey CAMHS is provided by BEH-MHT and is part of the newly formed North Central London mental health partnership across the London boroughs of Camden, Islington, Barnet, Enfield and Haringey.
The London Borough of Haringey covers Tottenham, Wood Green, Hornsey, Crouch End, Muswell Hill and Highgate is situated between the inner-city areas of Hackney and Islington to the south and more suburban areas of Enfield and Barnet to the north and west. The western part of the Trust is relatively affluent, the eastern part being more typical of an inner city area.
The population of approximately 220,000 is the most ethnically and culturally diverse in England and Wales with 44% of the boroughs residents coming from a black or ethnic minority background. - Doctoral level training in clinical psychology, including models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology, as accredited by the BPS. Professional registration with the HCPC as a practitioner psychologist.
Desirable
- Training in clinical supervision for doctoral clinical psychology trainees and other psychologists. Post-doctoral training in one or more relevant specialist areas of psychological practice. Quality improvement training.
