Job summary

The transformation of mental health services has brought exciting opportunities for clinical psychology to use all of the skills developed across the training programme. Our role would very much suit someone who is for whatever reason not looking for a long-term commitment to a role at the current time, but who very much values feeling part of a supportive team. BAP is a well established team , practising a number of different psychological approaches so there will be ample opportunity to learn in the role and find the supervision you are looking for. You will be encouraged to become involved in all aspects of clinical psychology in the NHS, including training and consultation for non-psychology colleagues. You will also have the opportunity to develop junior members of the psychology team in their clinical practice. You will work closely with staff from all other disciplines. Barnet offers hybrid working and flexibility wherever possible. Thus, various permutation of hours will happily be discussed.

Main duties of the job

  1. To provide specialist psychological assessments of clients referred to the team based upon the appropriate use, interpretation, and integration of complex data from a variety of sources including psychological and neuropsychological tests, self-report measures, rating scales, direct and indirect structured observations and semi-structured interviews with clients, family members and others involved in the client's care.
    1. To provide professional and clinical supervision of assistant/graduate psychologists and, as appropriate, to contribute to the supervision of individual cases for trainee clinical psychologists.

    1. To contribute to the pre- and post-qualification teaching of clinical and/or counselling psychology, as appropriate.

    1. To provide advice, consultation and training to staff working with the client group across a range of agencies and settings, where appropriate.
