Job summary

The post offered is that of a Specialty Doctor in General Adult Psychiatry. The applicant will be working between the well-established Barnet South & West Core Community Teams. This is a replacement post. The specialty doctor will work 5PAs in West Core Community Team & 5PAs in South Core Community Team. Both teams are based at the Redhill Clinic in Edgware.

The post is full-time for 10 Programmed Activities (PA): 8 Direct Clinical Care (DCC) and 2 Supporting Professional Activities (SPA).

Main duties of the job

    • Regular attendance at morning referral meetings
    • Provide leadership and supervision to the multidisciplinary team, especially when senior colleagues are away on leave.
    • Provide diagnostic assessment and treatment for individuals under the care of the team through clinic appointments at Redhill Clinic or via telephone appointments.
    • Complete documentation promptly allowing clinical letters to be sent to the GP efficiently.
    • Provide support to non-medical staff where a medical opinion is required.
    • Provide support in formulating treatment plans in conjunction with the multidisciplinary team.
    • Ensure the review and care of patients' physical health through liaison with other agencies including the patients GP and general hospital services.
    • Allocate time for carrying out home visits.

  • Full Registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) with a current licence to practise from the GMC at intended start date.
  • At least 3 years postgraduate experience in psychiatry.
  • Section 12 Approved or eligibility for it.
