Job summary

Due to the ongoing Community Transformation, a new post has been created for a Highly Specialist Clinical Practitioner. The Enfield PD Pathway sits within the Complex Emotional Needs (CEN) arm of the Enfield Community Integrated Psychological Pathways alongside the Complex PTSD Pathway. The PD Pathway offers evidence-based treatment for patients with Cluster B and Cluster A Paranoid Personality Disorder.

The post holder is required to have direct experience of delivering Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and/or Mentalisation-Based Therapy (MBT) and awareness of Structured Clinical Management (SCM). The post holder will also have a high level of training and experience in developing and maintaining a therapeutic relationship. This role requires a very high degree of mental effort and highly developed communication skills, empathy and sensitivity to the patient. It also requires a well-developed ability to maintain boundaries.

The post holder will contribute to providing senior clinical oversight in the PD Pathway in support of the Enfield Personality Disorder Pathway Lead.

Main duties of the job

The role will require the post holder to:

  • To maintain a clinical caseload of highly complex and demanding psychological interventions, leading by example in assessment, treatment and consultation, formulating and implementing appropriate treatment plans.
  • To work autonomously within professional guidelines and exercise responsibility for the systematic governance of clinical practice in collaboration with the PD Pathway Lead.
  • To support the PD Pathway Lead in implementing clear systems for effective supervision for both group and individual work using Structured Clinical Management, (SCM), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and Mentalisation Based Therapy (MBT) approaches.
  • To support the PD Pathway Lead in ensuring that clinical governance structures are in place.
  • To support the PD Pathway Lead in the recruitment.
  • To carry out audit, policy and service development and research activities and/or programmes in line with development and vision of the PD Pathway with PD or other Psychology colleagues.
  • To teach in the treatment and clinical management of personality disorder to mental health colleagues in Enfield and externally as required.
  • To deputise for the PD Lead at meetings in their absence, take up delegated responsibilities for presenting the pathway as needed.

Education & Qualifications

Essential

  • oCore health professional qualification (Psychology, Nursing, Social work, Occupational Therapy)
  • oRegistration with the appropriate professional body (HCPC, NMC, Social Work England etc).
  • oBasic Training Certificate in Mentalisation-Based Therapy (MBT) or in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)

Desirable

  • oWorking towards Accredited Practitioner Status in MBT or DBT
  • oRecognised training in teaching, mentorship, supervision

Experience

  • oMinimum of three years post qualification experience
