Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, committed and passionate band 6 Art Therapist; the new role will be working across Haringey catchment area which has a vibrant and diverse community. This is a new role established in alignment with community transformation principles, and is a unique opportunity to lead and develop the art therapy offer as part of an activity based programme open to persons experiencing mental ill health. The project is a partnership project between Haringey Division of BEH and Bridge Renewal Trust, a Voluntary Care Sector organisation based in Tottenham, Haringey. The Art Therapist will work collaboratively with the team and local organisations, experts by experience, volunteers and other professionals to deliver an accessible and effective art therapy groups. There is a key aim of supporting a diverse populationand in-particular, Black and Minority Ethnic (BAME)men and women in the borough.

The post holder will be responsible for ensuing two groups are run each week one online and one in person. Working alongside the project team, a wide range of community teams and partner organisations the post holder will contribute to the programme that ensures a wide and diverse service offer is achieved. Successful candidates will have strong engagement and motivation skills and be able to work well with service users with a wide range of mental health needs.

Main duties of the job

  • To work autonomously within British Association of Art Therapists (BAAT) guidelines and the overall framework of the Trust's policies and guidelines.
  • To provide a assessment and treatment service for a range of individuals who engage in the Tottenham Talking project, including persons who self refer, designed to support persons with mental health difficulties
  • To provide Art Therapy sessions, including group and individual work as appropriate.
  • To maintain systems for prioritising referrals to Art Therapy.
  • To work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team, developing good staff relations and liaising with the multi-disciplinary team on clinical issues.
  • To attend team meetings, service development activity and service review reviews as required.
  • To provide specialist clinical placements and supervision for honorary contract holders undertaking Art Therapy training where appropriate.
