Job summary

Main duties of the job
1. To undertake duties associated with dispensing of medicines.2. To assist Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians (including students) and associated staff in providing a pharmaceutical service.3. To transport goods to and from Wards/Departments/Stores as and when requested.4. To ensure that consumable items in storage units are maintained at correct levels, ordering items, ensuring arrival and filling daily.5. To investigate, follow-up and record any discrepancies with stock.6. To ensure that pharmaceutical waste bins are sealed correctly (when full) and labelled correctly.7. To maintain the emergency cupboards.8. To process returned pharmaceutical items from Wards and Departments to stock and update computer records.9. To undertake top-up services to wards and departments.10. To advise ward/department staff on the safe storage of medicines.11. To work in the Stores (which includes receipt of goods, putting goods away and selecting goods from shelves).12. To regularly review and monitor storage conditions within the Pharmacy13. To prepare orders for school nurses for childhood vaccines.14. To assist in the stocktaking in the department.15. To follow Departmental Procedures and Standard Operating Procedures.16. To assist in training of new members of staff.17. To support in data collection for any audits or surveys being undertaken by the department.18. To participate in weekend and public holiday rotas.
