Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Occupational Therapist who is interested in supervision and service innovation to join the NCL CAMHS Home Treatment Team. This post will be based at TBC delivering specialist home treatment service for children and adolescents (12-18 years) across the NCL's five boroughs of Barnet, Enfield, Haringey, Camden and Islington.

The NCL CAMHS Home Treatment Team is an innovative project pioneering service delivering a highly intensive multidisciplinary community care to young people within the NCL area. Significant objective of this team is to shorten the length of inpatient admissions providing best outcomes for young people in a least disruptive way. The post offers an exciting opportunity to utilise a range of clinical skills working with young people and complex systems, and also to be actively involved in supervision and team development.

Main duties of the job

The successful post holder:

Will have a 'can do' and flexible attitude so that they can successfully integrate and contribute to our dynamic service. They will have experience of working with children and young people, offering psychological assessment, formulation, and interventions within a community CAMHS service or Tier 4 CAMHS inpatient setting.

Provide a specialist clinical psychology service to clients served by the NCL CAMHS Home Treatment Team, providing specialist psychological assessment and therapy to clients and offering advice, consultation and supervision on clients' psychological care to non-psychologist colleagues and to other, non-professional carers. To work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the team's policies and procedures. To utilise research skills for audit, policy and service development and research within the area served by the team/service.

MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

MANAGERIAL/ADMINISTRATIVE

  1. Support in service development and delivery such as to design appropriate systems for referral, case load management and review.
  2. To provide support to Band 7 OT Lead clinically including supervising staff and students and assist in the induction of new team members.
  3. Support in the recruitment, selection, and retention of staff for the above-mentioned roles.

  12. To be actively involved in service development and quality improvement, including inputting to service wide projects, identifying quality improvement within OT service, and taking lead on system changes.
  13. Be responsible for following Trust protocol to ensure systems and procedure are followed by the team.
  14. To manage the duties and responsibilities associated with a clinical caseload and administration within required time constraints.
  15. In the event of Service User Safety Incidents, ensure they are dealt with swiftly and in line with policy. Organise support to service users following incidents and debriefing of staff. Draw out learning points and areas for practice development.
  16. Aim to establish local resolutions of all complaints, giving time to service users, relatives, and others to express their concerns and working with the staff team to improve services to service users.
  17. Participate in investigation of complaints, review of incidents and Service User Safety Incidents within the Barnet borough in accordance with agreed procedures and prepare reports.
  18. To be considerate to and work within principles of sustainability considering financial, social and environmental impacts of service delivery.
  19. Provide monthly feedback to the Line Manager for example on activity levels, case load, manpower and expenditure, staff issues and other information that is required.

CLINICAL

  1. To support the lead OT role in planning, developing, and implementing an occupational therapy pathway for service users under the care of a community occupational therapist.
