Haringey Memory Service Team Leader
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced band 7 Team Leader's post with an interest in older people's mental health to join the Haringey Memory Service based at Victoria Unit, St Ann's Hospital in Tottenham. The post is open to all professional groups and a great opportunity to work in Memory Services. We are looking for an experienced person who will provide expert clinical leadership to ensure a high standard of patient care, as well as provide excellent managerial skills to lead a highly skilled and motivated team.
The successful candidate will use their evidence based clinical skills to lead the service to support older adults and those needing memory service assessments and their carers. You will lead in service improvement quality assurance work to achieve agreed local and national performance targets. You will lead in carrying out initial assessment and follow up reviews for patients with complex needs and work within an experienced and established integrated team, delivering meaningful outcomes for service users and carers.
Previous work within the care of the older people will be essential as well as having a good multidisciplinary/managerial working relationship, experience in using local and organizational protocols in managing people and implementing appropriate care pathways.
Main duties of the job
1.1 Provide professional, clinical, managerial and supervisory leadership tothe Haringey Memory Service Team.
1.2 Provide monthly reports to the Service Manager e.g. activity levels,case load, manpower and expenditure, staff issues and other information that is required
1.3 Be responsible for screening referrals to the service for assessment,diagnosis and assume responsibility for the coordination of referrals toteam members and their workload management.
1.4 Chair Haringey Memory Service referral meetings, business meetingsand service development forums.
1.5 Ensure the Haringey Memory Service is adequately and safely staffedwithin the agreed establishment. Monitor staff absences using Trustpolicies and guidance to avoid staff burnout and promote staffwellbeing.
1.6 Develop and implement effective supervision and appraisal systems forall staff and provide support through performance management forunderperforming staff, as well as manage staff sicknesses andabsences with support of HR.
1.7 Attend all Trust mandatory/management training and ensure all staffaccess relevant training through ERS for their individual development.
1.8 Implementation of QI projects to improve service provision andperformance in line with local and national targets
1.9 Ensure a safe and therapeutic service environment, minimizing thenumber of safety incidents

- Professional qualification; occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, RMN part III or other
- Must be currently registered with appropriate professional body
- Evidence of ongoing CPD

- Additional qualification in physical health care and psychopharmacology and medication management
Experience

- Minimum of four years post registration experience including mental health and older people
