If so, a fantastic opportunity has arisen for a band 7 Speech and Language Therapist. Haringey CAMHS prides itself in working from a multi-disciplinary approach, informed and embedded within the iThrive Framework.
The post holder will deliver speech and language therapy services with children and adolescents with co-occurring mental health difficulties. They will be responsible for assessment and management of children and adolescents with communication needs and will offer advice, training and consultation to non-speech and language therapy colleagues. The post holder will take a key role improving the identification and support of people on the autistic spectrum and will have experience and additional training in this area. The successful applicant will work within a multi-disciplinary team comprising of a range of mental health professionals. There will be regular professional supervision. The post will involve liaison, joint-working and providing advice to other clinical, educational and social and care agencies and other external agencies when appropriate.
Main duties of the job
Clinical:
1. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, to deliver a speech and language therapy service within the CAMHS service and exercise autonomous professional responsibility for the assessment, treatment and case closure of service users.
2. To carry a personal clinical caseload maintaining an extremely high level of professional competence, demonstrating clinical expertise in mental health.
3. To carry out general mental health assessments including assessment of risk to the children and young people referred to CAMHS
4. Working with other professionals, take a key role improving the identification and support of people on the autistic spectrum including Developmental Language Disorder and Selective Mutism.
5. To be professionally accountable for own caseload, working autonomously in a variety of settings.
6. To undertake speech and language assessments of service users based upon the appropriate use, interpretation, and integration of information from a variety of sources including formal and informal assessment, observation and interviews with service users and others involved in the service user's care.
7. To provide timely and accurate reports that provides diagnosis, assessment and recommendations and complies with best practice guidelines.
8. To work with service users and other members of the MDT to achieve identified goals and to promote social inclusion, independence and well-being.

Essential
- Recognised degree or equivalent qualification in Speech and Language Therapy
- Health and Care Professions Council registration.

Desirable
- Registered member of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists.
