Job summary
The partnership between Barnet, Enfield and Haringey Mental Health NHS Trust (BEH) and Camden and Islington NHS Foundation Trust (C&I) is going from strength to strength since it was originally established in 2021 forming the North London Mental Health Partnership.
The Medical Workforce Manager is a key member of the Workforce Operations team and reports into the Head of Medical Workforce & Education. The post holder will manage and lead the Medical Workforce service across the partnership in all matters pertaining to the medical workforce.
The role will provide a key source of expert knowledge and understanding of national medical staffing agendas, including terms and conditions, employee relations, job planning, appraisals, revalidation, rota design, and medical workforce transformation.
The role will take the lead on the interpretation and local application of national policy/legislation, developing and implementing appropriate Trust policies, systems and processes as they apply to the medical staffing workforce.
The Medical Workforce Manager role is within the People & Organisation Development Directorate and there is an expectation for cross team working, participation exciting projects and initiatives to support the post holders career development and progression.

It is being advertised as a career development role for a Band 8a to potentially progress to a band 8b over time.
Main duties of the job
- To ensure that the medical staffing function undertakes recruitment administration (including offer letters, administration of pre-employment checks, work permits) efficiently and accurately and ensuring that the job applicant's first experience of each organisation is positive.
- To ensure that all medical recruitment and other administration is carried out in a timely manner, meeting internal quality standards and KPIs, relevant national frameworks and legal requirements and working to reduce time to hire. To provide expert advice on recruitment and selection procedures, junior doctor terms and conditions, consultant contracts and all other medical staffing issues to all senior managers across the Trust.
- To work closely with the London Deanery and Royal Colleges to ensure an effective consistent HR service is delivered to all medical staff.
- To identify concerns and highlight these to the recruiting manager, for example, if an Occupational Health screening is unsatisfactory and ensure that all staff in the team proactively flag potential risks to each of the organisation.
- To provide detailed advice, for example, where pre-employment checks are unsatisfactory, or the withdrawal of an offer is possible for other reasons.
- Liaising and working closely with the wider HR team and referring on, asappropriate, cases where the applicant is already employed, for example if unsatisfactory references/DBS clearance only becomes apparent post appointment.
