Job summary
We are really pleased to be offering this exciting full-time consultant post as part of the community transformation Community Transformation Programme following additional NHS funding for Community Mental Health Services.
The post offered is that of Consultant Medical Psychotherapist in General Adult Psychiatry and Trust Psychotherapy Tutor (10PA), working in the newly configured Complex Emotional Needs Team. The Complex Emotional Needs Team has three main pathways that function as mini-teams - the Personality Disorder (PD) Pathway, the Mood Anxiety and Personality (MAP) Pathway and the Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) Pathway.
Please note the job description is pending approval from the Royal College.
Main duties of the job
The PD Pathway led by the very experienced MBT therapist Catherine Sunderland has a team of 13 people that may be expanded in the future depending on service needs. The team has got 2 VCS workers from Hestia that together with a Band 7 professional from the PD pathway team are reaching out into primary care in the East Locality on trial basis. Similar arrangements are envisioned in Central and West localities as well - thus the Personality Disorders pathway would have three Primary Care "arms" reaching out. It is important to ensure that services are accessible and relevant to the community needs, therefore post holders input to reconfiguration of the service will be important.
The Complex PTSD (cPTSD) Pathway has a team of 8 people working mostly full time and led by counselling psychologist Dr Emma Hormoz. The team consisting of psychologists, nurses, assistant and trainee psychologists and doctors is committed to provide best evidence-based treatment to people suffering from complex PTSD.
The MAP Pathway team is comprised of 10 people and is led by clinical psychologist Dr Eleanor Noone. The team composition is similar to the PTSD Team and they have many years of experience in providing psychological help to often very isolated and hard to reach patients.
