Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a candidate to work in one of the largest Eating Disorder services in the country which was featured in the Louis Theroux documentary "Talking to Anorexia" including working within our newly built, award-winning inpatient ward.
We are looking for a friendly and motivated Clinical/Counselling Psychologist to join our Psychological Therapies team who are responsible for providing evidence-based assessment and treatment to patients across all parts of the service, including provision on the inpatient ward.

Main duties of the job
1. To provide specialist psychological assessments of clients referred to the team (either face to face or via telephone or video calls) based upon the appropriate use, interpretation, and integration of complex data from a variety of sources including psychological tests, self-report measures, rating scales, direct and indirect structured observations and semi-structuredinterviews with clients, family members and others involved in the client's care.
2. To formulate and implement plans for the formal psychological treatment and/or management of a client's mental health problems, based upon an appropriate conceptual framework of the client's problems, and employing methods based upon evidence of efficacy, across the full range of care settings.
3. To be responsible for implementing a range of psychological interventions for individuals, carers, families, and groups, within and across teams employed individually and in synthesis, adjusting and refining psychological formulations drawing upon different explanatory models and maintaining a number of provisional hypotheses.
4. To evaluate and make decisions about treatment options taking into account both theoretical and therapeutic models and highly complex factors concerning historical and developmental processes that have shaped the individual, family, or group.
About us
The Eating Disorders Service at St Ann's Hospital in Haringey provides comprehensive care for patients 18 years old and above with a primary diagnosis of an eating disorder providing services to a catchment area that includes North Central London, North East London and parts of Essex.
The service includes Outpatient Services, Community Liaison Services, a Day Programme and a 20-bedded inpatient ward in a newly built state of the art mental health building. The Outpatient Service and Day Programme are also housed in a newly renovated, purpose designed unit.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
Essential
- Doctoral level training in Clinical Psychology or Counselling Psychology (or BPS accredited equivalent), including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics, and lifespan developmental psychology, as accredited by the BPS. To be registered with the HCPC, in the process of registering for HCPC, or applying for HCPC registration on completion of training course.
EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE
Essential
- Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of clients in inpatient and outpatient settings.
- Experience of working with a wide variety of presenting problems and maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems, verbal abuse and the threat of physical abuse.
