Strength and Conditioning Exercise Practitioner

Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Outpatient Physiotherapy Team for a passionate Strength and Conditioning Exercise Practitioner. The post holder will be responsible for their own clinical caseload providing strength and conditioning interventions to facilitate patients to achieve their specific goals. The role will involve leading rehabilitation classes and developing return to sport pathways.

The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital Physiotherapy Department has a state-of-the-art rehabilitation gym and access to industry leading objective testing devices including handheld dynamometers, isokinetic dynamometers and force plates. The strength and conditioning exercise practitioner will be responsible for performing return to play testing and using the results to assist patients to return to their optimal function.

There will be opportunities to work on the development of protocols using up to date research as well as audits to aid service development. The role brings enormous rewards of helping patients progressing through challenging circumstances.

Main duties of the job

  1. To be responsible for own caseload providing assessment and treatment to patients with a variety of conditions which require rehabilitation intervention .
  2. To assess patients progress and modify treatment programmes as necessary within the physiotherapy outpatient department.
  3. To lead designated rehabilitation classes within the gymnasium.
  4. Undertake return to sport testing including biodex, force plates, handheld dynamometery and other objective tests.

This role will involve regular communication and joint working with the physiotherapy team to plan goal centred rehabilitation.
