MSK Occupational Health Case Manager

Job summary

The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital is looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic Specialist Physiotherapist for this exciting new role to work as an MSK Occupational Health Case Manager within the Trust. The role will present opportunity to establish and develop an MSK Occupational Health advisory service to include rapid access to musculoskeletal assessment and treatment. The post holder will be responsible for establishing, coordinating, delivering and evaluating the service.

The successful individual will manage a caseload of staff who are :

- At risk of absence due to MSK health

- Absent from work due to MSK health

- Returning to work after a period of absence due to MSK health

The post will aim to reduce sickness absence due to MSK conditions through support of staff members and their manager.

Alongside their case manager role, the post holder will also manage a small caseload of musculoskeletal outpatient physiotherapy patients.

Main duties of the job

Staff development is positively encouraged at undergraduate, post-graduate and research levels within the Therapies department and is supported by regular in-service training. Clinical support and development is available from a large APP team and managerial project support through senior management teams. The department has close links with Research and Development with audit and research actively encouraged.

Flexible working hours apply and the physiotherapy outpatient service operates extended hours and you may be required to work evenings and at weekends.

The core responsibilities of the job are:

To establish an MSK Occupational Health advisory service for staff at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital and to lead, develop and evaluate the service, reporting to the Therapy Service Senior Leadership Team.

To provide expertise and act as lead specialist in MSK Occupational Health, managing a caseload of ROH Employees to support them to remain at work and assist both managers and employees with return to work and redeployment plans.

Provide comprehensive MSK and biopsychosocial assessment of ROH employees to enable development of individual management plans.

To coordinate the delivery of a rapid access MSK physiotherapy service to staff from The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital.
