Job summary

This post will provide MDT support across the service areas of Bone, Soft Tissue and Spinal tumours, working as part of an Oncology MDT Coordinator team with responsibility for tracking all patients through their cancer journey to facilitate the Trusts compliance with all government cancer waiting times targets.

To efficiently co-ordinate the Cancer Services Multi-Disciplinary team meetings for both the sarcoma, paediatric and spinal services.

The post holder will play a pivotal role in ensuring the effectiveness of these meetings and will be responsible for ensuring that the next stage in the patient's pathway is determined, for collecting appropriate data and recording live clinical minutes.

Main duties of the job

MDT MEETING

Compile lists of patients to be discussed at each meeting including 100% of histologically confirmed cancers and discussion cases, breaking down into the relevant oncology team for both sarcoma & spinal MDT meetings.

Record attendance of members at each MDT meeting and audit figures e.g. for Peer Review

Take formal minutes of all cases discussed at the MDT meeting and type up during the meeting enabling a live account of the agreed diagnosis/pathway in order for information to be available almost immediately for all MDT/ extended team and admin.

Assist in uploading imaging and requesting via IEP system

Ensure all correspondence/notes and images etc are available for the meeting by liaising with other departments and collecting large quantities of notes /images from other locations e.g. wards, radiology, coding etc (ability to troubleshoot whereabouts of information in readiness for the meeting).

Communicate with the clerical support staff the notes/reports required for MDT meetings.

Provide training and support for the clerical staff involved in MDT.

Manage the structure of the meeting ensuring all patients discussed against protocol and relevant staff informed.

Ensure action plans for each patient are produced and agreed, review arrangements etc. and these are recorded in patient records and communicated to relevant staff/GPs etc. where appropriate.
