Job summary

Ward 3 is an Orthopaedic Oncology ward. Age range of patients 16-90, taking referrals from all over the country.

We have a compassionate dedicated team of healthcare professionals working closely together to provide expert care to our patients.

We complete major orthopaedic surgeries, endoprosthetic reconstructions and sometimes amputations to enable patients to recover from their orthopaedic tumours. We are supported by McMillan nurses, and work closely with our Occupational and Physical Therapists to support our patients through their recovery from surgery and back home.

Main duties of the job

To be responsible for a group of patients, working alongside our health care assistants to meet all your patients needs.

To administer medications in accordance with NMC guidelines, care for complex wound dressings, mobilise patients, provide psychological support and become an expert orthopaedic oncology nurse.

To escalate concerns regarding patients appropriately, observe and report safeguarding concerns, support colleagues, provide education and teaching to patients and staff. Accountable to Ward Manager, Matron and Head Of Nursing.

To remain up to date with all elements of mandatory and desired training.
