Imaging Clerical Officer

Job summary

To contribute to the delivery of a comprehensive administrative and clerical service within Radiology.

To ensure patients Imaging appointments are booked in a timely manner and patients queries are dealt with effectively and efficiently to ensure that patients have a positive experience when attending the department.

To work with other team members in implementing any improvements to the efficiency, and quality of the service, and develop competencies in all areas, whilst keeping up-to-date in their role and providing on-going support to colleagues.

To work flexibly within the to provide administrative support to patients, clinicians and other Trust Staff.

The department operates weekdays from 8am to 8pm, and weekends 8am to 5pm. All staff members will be required to work shifts within this time frame, shifts will vary, and flexibility is required to ensure coverage during all operating hours.

Duties are rotated during the shift.

Main duties of the job

  • Greeting and attending patients on the MRI reception desk, this will include ensuring safety screening questionnaires are completed.

  • Greeting and attending patients on the X-Ray reception desk. Additional duties also performed whilst working on x-ray reception desk also include; booking in-patient appointments, tracking and attending "walk-in" patients ensuring they go back to the Outpatient Department (when necessary), attending CT patients, taking calls from theatres ensuring theatre patients are booked and attended.

  • Pending paper referrals (e.g. private patient and GP) imaging referral forms onto the CRIS waiting list.

  • To ensure that Ultrasound and CT clinics are processed in a timely manner to ensure that the correct activity is captured.

  • To ensure that any forms (i.e. LMP forms, CT procedure forms, Undertaking To Pay forms etc) are scanned into CRIS on a daily basis.

  • Report equipment faults to line manager.

  • Operate IT systems - ensuring correct data is held on the Trust systems, and update as necessary.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and within Trust Policy/guidelines. Referring to manager when necessary.
