The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Foundation Trust

Staff Nurse Outpatients

The closing date is 15 October 2025

Job summary

Working as a Band 5 Staff Nurse in Outpatients you will be expected to ensure a high standard of patient care is delivered in an effective and efficient manner, reflecting the values and ethos of The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

As an autonomous practitioner you will be responsible and accountable for safe, compassionate, person centred care and for assessing, planning and implementing the care needs of patients attending the outpatient department in conjunction with the wider multi-disciplinary team.

Main duties of the job

As a staff nurse in outpatients, you will be supporting clinicians to manage patients through a variety of orthopaedic clinics so good communication skills are essential

You will also undertake specialist nurse led dressing clinics with the support of the multidisciplinary team providing wound care and the knowledge to promote wound healing, which will be underpinned by attending a wound care course/module at Birmingham City University.

There is an expectation that you will support the patient pathway through our injection suite to ensure smooth admission and safe discharge and you may be in charge of the department in the absence of the Band 6 Sisters so the ability to use your own initiative and make sound clinical judgement is essential
