Job summary

The post holder, working with the Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP) and Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS), will be responsible for providing specialist knowledge and advice, demonstrating a sound understanding of the issues relating to the management of the patient group. They will implement effective care of patients under the care of the major revision hip/knee and Bone Infection Service. Utilise and develop their skills across a variety of settings, working as an integral part of the multidisciplinary team (MDT).

Main duties of the job

The post holder will:-Have specialist knowledge in the field of revision arthroplasty and bone infection and will have the skills to empower others in clinical practice.-Offer an advisory role in the speciality of revision arthroplasty and bone infection, which supports health professionals, patients, and carers.-Be responsible for supporting the ACP CNS in running nurse led services and clinics that support bone infection patients in their treatment pathway.-Support the answering of telephone calls and emails to the service's generic contact points, e.g., Bone Infection Service and Wound Infection Helpline

QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING

Essential

  • Registered Nurse with current NMC Registration
  • Diploma/Degree level nursing qualification
  • Willingness to complete postgraduate orthopaedic nursing course.
  • Recognised teaching qualification
  • Evidence of continued professional development

Desirable

  • Post Registration training/qualification relevant to the specialty.

EXPERIENCE

Essential

  • Significant post registration band 5 experience in an acute surgical setting
  • Worked as a member of an MDT
  • Involvement in Audit
