Job summary
Working closely with the Spinal Advanced Clinical Practitioner the post holder will be responsible for providing specialist knowledge and advice, demonstrating a sound understanding of the issues relating to the identification, assessment, treatment management for the patient group. They will assess, plan and implement effective care of patients under the care of the Spinal Service. Utilise and develop their skills across a variety of settings, working as an integral part of the multidisciplinary team.
During periods of planned leave support the Oncology Consultant Nurse with delegated elements of the Spinal Oncology Clinical Nurse Specialist case load.
Main duties of the job
- Be a clinical specialist in the field of spinal surgery and will have the skills to empower others in clinical practice.
- Offer an advisory role in the speciality of spinal surgery, which supports health professionals, patients, and carers.
- Engage directly with consultants, medical staff, and all members of the multi-disciplinary team in the management of spinal patients, working across professional and organisational boundaries in order to provide a comprehensive patient focused service.
- Be responsible for supporting the Advanced Clinical Practitioner in running nurse led services and clinics that support spinal patients in their treatment pathway.
- Act as an educational resource to all members of the MDT and the wider Trust, and facilitate the development of nurses and healthcare staff in order to improve the spinal patients' experience
- Provide delegated essential cover to an agreed caseload during periods of Spinal Oncology Clinical Nurse Specialist planned absence.
