Job summary

This is a new and exciting opportunity to lead lower limb rehabilitation services at The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital. The physiotherapy department, ROH at College Green, have recently relocated to a purpose-built facility with significant investment from the Trust to support and develop rehabilitation services. The new facility provides a modern environment, including clinic rooms, a paediatric unit, studio and gymnasium with state-of-the-art equipment. The service assesses and treats patients with a wide variety of conditions including post-surgery, MSK conditions, sports injuries, trauma and chronic pain.

The physiotherapy department is excited to develop its structure to include this new role within lower limb services. We are looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic and highly skilled individual to lead lower limb rehabilitation. This will include managing a caseload of complex physiotherapy patients and being responsible for leading on the clinical development of staff and the lower limb service. The role will also include opportunity to work in consultant clinics in order to utilise advanced skills, promote collaborative working and develop knowledge and experience in other management options. There will be a requirement to be actively involved in research and audit which is led by service and department needs / interests.

Main duties of the job

The ROH physiotherapy department support staff development with a structured teaching programme and other opportunities for external CPD. We have excellent links and involvement with the research and development team. There is a large team of advanced practice physiotherapists, including consultant physiotherapists, providing peer support and there are strong links with the medical teams across all specialities.

They will clinically lead the lower limb rehabilitation services and be responsible for staff and service development in this area. The post will require active involvement in research and audit. There will be opportunity to work in consultant clinics as an advanced practice physiotherapist to develop extended skills and increase knowledge of other management options including surgery as well as promoting collaborative working with the medical teams. To be professionally and legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of own workincluding the management of patient care in the musculoskeletal / Orthopaedic clinics. Toensure a high standard of clinical care for the patients under your management and supporttherapy staff to do likewise. To act as a Physiotherapy Clinical Lead for the lower limb within the Multidisciplinary team ofSpecialists involved in the management of musculoskeletal / Orthopaedic patients. To communicate with and provide highly specialist advice and training to Physiotherapystaff, Consultants, GPs, and other Health Care Professionals on the management andrehabilitation of patients with lower limb sports injuries and musculoskeletal / Orthopaedicconditions to ensure a co-ordinated and seamless service within clinics. To undertake a comprehensive advanced assessment and triage of highly complex patientsreferred to the musculoskeletal / orthopaedic clinics using analytical skills and manualassessment techniques to determine a clinical diagnosis, as an autonomous practitioner.
