Job summary
The Advanced Neonatal Clinical Practitioner (ANCP) will contribute to the delivery of a responsive, high quality neonatal service working as part of the Tier 1 medical rota. The role will primarily support the clinical team on the Neonatal Unit at the Royal Albert Edward Infirmary. Within their role they are expected to take on leadership skills as well as contributing to quality improvement projects within time for research and development.
The ANCP is required to work as an autonomous professional and provide expert clinical expertise in developing and enhancing the Neonatal service, working in close collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team to support the provision of high quality patient & family centred health care and improved outcomes.
The post holder will be proactive in pioneering the role in response to lessons learned both in the educational programme and from work-based learning in clinical practice.
This vacancy is open to all internal and external candidates. NHS Employees should ideally secure their manager's agreement for a secondment arrangement ideally prior to applying, as this will be a condition of any offer made. This vacancy is advertised on a fixed term basis as It has been established to provide cover for an employee on maternity leave and will end on 30/04/2027 or when the substantive postholder returns. Whilst this post is advertised on an acting / secondment basis there is the potential that this post may become permanent in the future.
Main duties of the job
Ensures clinical practice reflects all current NMC documentation including, Code of Professional Conduct, Scope of Professional Practice and Standards for Record Keeping.Works within the policies and procedures of Wrightington Wigan & Leigh Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and the agreed clinical protocols and neonatal guidelines.Contributes to the clinical management of individual patients, utilising nursing/medical knowledge and skills to assess, plan, implement and initiate changes where required. This will include monitoring and evaluating the response to treatment through analysis and interpretation of clinical tests and investigations.Works under the direction of an identified Clinical Supervisor.Responds to neonatal emergency situations within agreed protocols, utilising clinical judgement and decision-making. Initiates appropriate intervention and treatment of sick neonates.Initiates drug therapy/medication within the parameters of the agreed clinical protocols.Monitors and evaluates clinical outcomes in patient centred care.Acts as a role model to colleagues, identifying and utilising health education opportunities.Initiates change and evaluates outcomes to improve neonatal and family care.
