Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity for a Specialist Pelvic Heath Physio band 6 to join the Outpatient Service within Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.This is a fantastic opportunity to work with specialist clinical staff who are dedicated to improve patient care.

To provide a high standard of physiotherapy assessment and treatment of patients within the speciality of pelvic floor dysfunction to include the clinical diagnosis and physiotherapy treatment indicated for patients with pelvic floor dysfunction, including bladder and bowel symptoms as well as problems related to any relevant birth trauma. To maintain records as an autonomous practitioner. To provide support to other members of the team and deputise for the team leader as appropriate.

Main duties of the job

To undertake a comprehensive assessment of patients including those with complex presentations and use advanced clinical reasoning skills to provide an accurate diagnosis of their condition.

Formulate and develop individual treatment programmes underpinned by sound knowledge of evidence-based practice and having a range of treatment options.

Establish accurate prognosis and recommend best course of intervention and develop comprehensive treatment and discharge plans.

Assess patients understanding of treatment proposals, gaining consent.

To accept clinical responsibility for a designated caseload of patients, and to organise this effectively and efficiently regarding clinical priorities and use of time.

To maintain records, comprehensive and up-to-date documentation, in line with legal and departmental requirements and communicate assessment and treatment results to the appropriate disciplines in form of reports and letter.

Be an active member of the in-service training programme by attendance and participation, external courses, peer review and individual training sessions.
