Job summary
This role supports the financial services team in delivering accurate and timely financial processes, in line with organisational policies and statutory requirements. It involves ensuring financial information is processed correctly, investigating and resolving queries, and providing guidance to colleagues and stakeholders. The position also contributes to maintaining compliance with financial controls and deadlines, while promoting best practices across the team.
37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, No on call.

Main duties of the job
Working as part of a team the post holder will contribute to the efficient operation of the Financial Services team ensuring that control accounts are reconciled monthly and suspense accounts and recharge codes are cleared in accordance with internal timetables. The post holder will assist in the maintenance of the Trust's banking facilities bank mandates, receipting of income and assist with the completion of VAT accounting processes in accordance with statutory deadlines. The post will be responsible for completing several year-end working papers to support the production of year end statutory accounts.
Each member of the team will be allocated specific day to day tasks but will be expected to rotate duties on a periodic basis and cover for colleagues as and when appropriate.

To have a detailed understanding of accounting procedures including reconciliations, VAT payments and deductions and coding structures.
Proactively contribute to the production of the Trusts monthly financial reporting processes, KPIs and allocated tasks within the monthly, quarterly, annual reporting cycle.
Responsible for reconciling complex control accounts with supporting working papers each month, ensuring any unreconciled items are promptly investigated and resolved.
Responsible for monitoring and clearing suspense and recharge codes ensuring all entries and cleared in accordance with the month end timetable.
Communicate to finance and organisational colleagues finance related policies and procedures ensuring that these are in line with Trust SFIs (Standing Financial Instructions).
Responsible for reviewing balance sheet transactions and providing advice and guidance where entries have been incorrectly coded and ensuring steps are taken to prevent future errors arising.
Responsible for the completion of several working papers to substantiate t figures reported in the Trust Annual Accounts.
Assist in the completion of the NHS agreement of balances exercise in relation to income and expenditure transactions.
Responsible for receipting of trust income received directly into the trust bank account and resolving any unallocated cash by raising and addressing queries with relevant colleagues

Co-ordination of petty cash balances at year end to support the completion and reporting of year end cash balances.
Liaise with internal/external auditors providing information as required.
