Pre-Operative Healthcare Assistant

Job summary

We are a busy outpatient department, with many different multi-disciplinary clinics running. We are looking for a dynamic, hardworking person who relish's in providing person centred support and care to our patients. To be supportive to the departmental team in a busy working department. We are the start of patients planned elective surgery and work towards safe surgery and demonstrate compassion throughout their journey within the Pre-Operative department here at Wrightington Hospital.

This is a permanent post.

Candidates will be required to produce original certificates of qualifications at interview stage and during compliance checks.

Must have a NVQ level 2 in Health and Social care or equivalent.

Main duties of the job

Elective Surgical Pre-Op pathway adhering to NICE Elective guidelines and trust policies.

  • Taking a patients baseline observations.
  • Performing ECGs, Venepuncture, Vitalograph & recording digitally the results.
  • Assisting colleagues from all disciplines with good communication skills and team ethos. Act as an advocate for the patients, with reassurance.
  • Participate in maintaining department audits.
  • Keeping up to date with trust mandatory training.
  • Ordering of stock when needed. Maintaining professionalism and willingness to develop with new initiatives in the department.

You will need excellent communication & documentation skills on the trusts digital platform.
