Job summary
The post holder will work in support of the services provided in the Urology Department.
Aid the medical and nursing staff within the Urology Department to ensure the smooth running of the service.
The post holder will also be required to assist with administrative duties specific to the speciality, including processing data for audit and research projects.
You must hold the NVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care from a recognised training provider or otherwise hold the NHS accredited Care Certificate. We are unable to accept certificates from the short online courses as these are not NVQs.
This vacancy is open to all internal and external candidates. NHS Employees should ideally secure their manager's agreement for a secondment arrangement ideally prior to applying, as this will be a condition of any offer made. This vacancy is advertised on a fixed term basis for 12 months, as it has been established to provide cover for long term absence. Whilst this post is advertised on a fixed term / secondment basis there is the potential that this post may become permanent in the future.
Main duties of the job
Prepare and chaperone patients during examination, procedure and treatment
Assist in patients' procedures and treatments
Maintain patients' privacy
Provide a clean safe environment to enable oneself or others to perform procedures/treatments
Remove indwelling urethral catheters
Perform bladder scans
Develop competencies that will safeguard their practice and effectiveness within their role
Empower oneself and colleagues to meet the objectives of the organisation
Demonstrate flexibility in the role within the department
Develop an understanding of basic departmental procedures
Assist with the collection and testing of patient samples and accurately record the results
To develop IT skills appropriate to the needs of the department
To develop the safe use of equipment and to use them in a timely manner
To provide good housekeeping duties following protocols where necessary
Liaise with other hospital and community services as required
To adhere to Departmental policies and procedures
To maintain accurate stock levels
Any other duties appropriate to the grade
