Job summary

Provide an efficient Pension service to all Trust and client employees.

Provide information and guidance to staff in connection with the NHS Pension Scheme, the alternative National Employment Savings Trust (NEST) or another workplace pension scheme.

Working as part of a team to undertake the preparation, calculation and updating of NHS Pension, NEST or other workplace pension scheme records and payments via ESR and POL in accordance with the pension scheme regulations, the Pension Regulator legislation, Trust's SFI's, internal procedures and statutory obligations.

Main duties of the job

Maintain knowledge and understanding of National and local terms and conditions of service in relation to pensionable pay, escalating any areas requiring clarification as required.

Process pension contributions correctly in accordance with required timescales and guidance procedures.

Maintain pension records for payment and deductions.

Provide advice and guidance on the correct completion of pension documentation when appropriate.

Process all retirement benefits which may include age, early retirement, ill health, injury, redundancy, death benefits etc.

Process complex manual calculations when appropriate.

Calculate Mutually Agreed Resignation Scheme (MARS) entitlement payments in accordance with National Framework and local policies.

Process pensions opt out and refund forms accurately and within the published timescales.

Process the monthly/weekly Auto Enrolment as required in line with agreed procedures.

Essential

  • 5 GCSE's grades A-C including Maths and English or equivalent level experience
  • NVQ Level 4, Certificate in Payroll Management or equivalent level of experience

Desirable

  • CIPP Level 3 or equivalent level of experience
  • Qualification in Public Sector Pensions Admin

Experience

Essential

  • Minimum of 1 Year working with NHS Pension Schemes
  • Electronic Staff Record (ESR) Experience
  • Pensions Online (POL) Experience
  • Customer service environment experience

Desirable

  • Knowledge of NEST Policy & Procedures
