Job summary

Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh Foundation Trust breast services, have an exciting opportunity to join our multi-disciplinary team, due to a retirement.

Our team are looking for an experienced Breast Care Nurse to work within the screening and symptomatic service. Currently working as a Band 6 or above, with surgical and oncology experience.

We are looking for an individual with a keen interest in Family History, and has the relevant experience or willingness to work towards gaining this knowledge.

We are a friendly forward thinking team, working together using a multi-disciplinary approach to achieve the best outcome for our patients.

Main duties of the job

  • Provides a specialist, continuing, supportive Breast Care Service within the hospital and community setting, offering optimum healthcare to patients, their families and carers.
  • Manages and organises own case load.
  • To work within the breast screening setting, and family history service.
  • Arm lymphoedema assessment.
  • Provides specialist breast care education, training and imparts sensitive information for patients, their carers and other healthcare professionals, ensuring that patient confidentially is maintained.

  • RN with current NMC registration
  • Degree/degree pathway in health-related subject or extensive experience {5 years +} as a specialist Breast Care Nurse at Band 6 level with evidence of ongoing CPD
  • ENB A11 or equivalent specialist Breast Care qualification.
  • Leadership course/degree module or willingness to undertake.
  • Teaching qualification/mentorship course.
  • Family History training or willingness to undertake

Desirable

  • Demonstrate counselling skills experience/qualification
  • Oncology qualification e.g. ENB237 cancer course or equivalent.
  • Advanced communications skills.
  • Experience in arm lymphoedema assessment.

  • Significant {3+ years} post registration experience at band 6 in Breast Care (if a graduate as above)
  • Evidence of professional leadership, leading to innovation in practice.
  • Evidence of effective clinical leadership, actively promoting working across professional and organisational boundaries.

Desirable

  • Experience of participation in outpatient clinic in this speciality.
  • Evidence of involvement in policy development/guidelines.
  • Experience in clinical audits
