Seamstress/Linen Services Assistant

Job summary

The successful candidate will be an experienced industrial sewing machinist and will provide an efficient day to day service for the Trust in theExperience of working in a busy sewing room environment is advantageous. The post is primarily based at Royal Albert Edward Infirmary but will be expected to provide cover across sites on an ad hoc basis. Therefore, a driving licence would be advantageous.

A need for excellent numeracy and literacy skills is essential, including the ability to assess alterations and modifications. The operation of labelling and heat seal equipment for the security marking of linen and uniforms and the recording of staff uniform allocation for audit purposes are also requirements of this post.

Candidates who have worked in the sewing industry historically, maybe interested in the role.

With a flexible approach the post holder will also be expected to aid as required in the busy linen room with the distribution of linen to wards, departments and residences of the Trust. Therefore, the ability to receipt and audit goods efficiently and accurately is required.

This is not exclusive to Wigan Infirmary and the candidate may be expected to work across WWL sites on an ad hoc basis.

Main duties of the job

Measuring, altering, and fitting of staff uniforms in accordance with the Uniform Policy. In addition, the post holder will carry out repairs to Trust linen to the highest standard.

the post holder will also be expected to aid as required in the busy linen room with the distribution of linen to wards, departments and residences of the Trust. Therefore, the ability to receipt and audit goods efficiently and accurately is required.

Use of the onsite laundry facilities for the purpose of laundering Neonatal and Maternity and other baby linen is also required.
