Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our enthusiastic team on Ward 3 (Surgical Day Case Unit). The patient centred team focus on safely admitting all surgical elective patients and recovering patient's postoperatively, leading up to their discharge home. We cover a variety of surgical specialities including ENT, Breast, Urology, Colorectal, Gynaecology, General Surgery, Plastics, Vascular, Ophthalmology and Pain. As a department our nursing team deliver high standards of care, we are looking for a conscientious, reliable and energetic person to join our team.
The roles will involve working across 5 days Monday - Friday.
This vacancy is open to all internal and external candidates. NHS Employees should ideally secure their manager's agreement for a secondment arrangement ideally prior to applying, as this will be a condition of any offer made. The position advertised is on a fixed term basis as they have been established to provide cover for employees on maternity leave for 12 months or when the substantive post holders return. Whilst this post is advertised on an acting / secondment basis there is the potential that this post may become permanent in the future.
Main duties of the job
To admit patients for surgery and deliver pre and post op nursing care followed by effective discharge planning for a wide range of nursing services . You will work along side a team of experienced day case nurses and clinicians who aim to deliver a safe and effective, patient focused service.Under the supervision of the Ward Leaders, the nurse is responsible for the provision, organisation and direction of nursing care of the patients in his/her care. The successful candidate must be able to communicate effectively with all members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure that a safe, and high standard of care is provided to all patients.
