Wrightington, Wigan & Leigh NHS Foundation Trust (WWL) are delighted to be in a position to offer an opportunity for a highly motivated & forward-thinking NHS Locum Consultant (10 PA's) to join the Rheumatology team for a 12 month fixed term period.
The Rheumatology department is based at Wrightington Hospital. We treat a wide range of rheumatological conditions and attract tertiary referrals. The team consists of Consultants, Trainee Doctor's. Specialist Nurses, General Nurses and an Administration Team.
Main duties of the job
The department provides outpatient services across three of the Trust's main sites; Wrightington Hospital, Thomas Linacre Centre & Leigh Infirmary. We host special interest clinics which include; Ankylosing Spondylitis, Osteoporosis, Combined Orthopaedic Rheumatology Clinics, Vasculitis and Early Arthritis.
In addition to the Consultant led clinics, the Rheumatology Nurse Specialists run a service in conjunction with the Rheumatology Consultant's for patients with a number of Rheumatological conditions. The department liaise closely with the Occupational therapy and Physiotherapy departments as well as offer education to patients who are newly diagnosed with a Rheumatological condition.
The department has a dedicated ward which host's daycase services on the recently refurbished Rheumatology ward at Wrightington Hospital. A wide range of treatments are available such as; joint injections and drug infusions to treat many Rheumatological conditions.
