Main duties of the job

Responsible for the development, implementation, and management of a comprehensive Digital Transformation Programme to include planning, scheduling, reporting, risk management, benefits realisation, assurance, budget management and quality standards.

Management of the Digital Transformation Programme Delivery Department who are tasked to ensure the designed and agreed Programme is delivered on time and to the relevant KPI's.

Management of the Business Analysis department that is responsible for maintaining relationships with clinical and non-clinical services across the Trust to understand system requirements and identify opportunities to deliver benefits through investment in Digital Initiatives

Reporting to the Deputy Director of Digital, the role will play a critical part in designing and delivering the Digital Strategy and the Trust Board Objectives by providing advice, support, guidance and escalation on the portfolio of projects within the Digital Transformation Programme.

To provide leadership and strategic planning to ensure effective service delivery by championing new and transformational ways of working.

To deputise for the Deputy Director of Digital as required.

A key strategic role within Digital Services that is focused on ensuring a robust Programme Management approach is taken to the delivery, assurance and oversight of the Digital Transformation Programme and the projects that support the Trusts Strategy, the Digital Strategy and other Trust Transformation programmes.

To develop and deliver Digital Transformation Programme, as agreed with the Senior Management Team and which will support the Trust to manage risks and achieve strategic objectives.

Provide leadership and strategic direction to Production & Modernisation teams by understanding their functions and working with Team managers to identify opportunities to improve service delivery.

Manage the Programme budget ensuring expenditure in line with any budget plans, constraints and or phased funding releases from external sources such as NHS England/HSCIC.

To maintain and develop specialist knowledge of methodologies to support development of the teams in achieving excellent service delivery to recognised professional standards.

To implement and contribute to the development of the Trust Digital Strategy.

Be responsible for all escalated issues within Production & Modernisation and liaise with other teams and suppliers to resolve.

Deputise for the Deputy Director of Digital to include representing Digital Services at key internal and external meetings.

Delivery of the Digital Transformation Programme to budget, agreed timescales and quality measures.

Timely escalation of Digital Transformation Programme risks and issues to the Digital Transformation Programme Steering Group.

Provide regular performance reports on progress, status and achievements for use by the Digital Transformation Programme Steering Group.

  • Master's degree in a related subject or demonstrable equivalent experience
  • Degree or equivalent level of experience within Digital Services function
  • Managing Successful Programmes Practitioner or demonstrable equivalent experience

  • Extensive experience managing operational Digital Services teams within the NHS

  • Substantial experience of delivering complex Digital projects within a Health environment
  • Experience of managing large scale change projects, including developing project plans and managing their implementation
  • Successful track record of achieving service improvements through initiating the use of new technologies and supporting the management of change
