An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic, engaging and committed Teaching Fellow to work alongside the Trust's Medical EducationTeam. Providing protected ward-based tuition for Undergraduate Medical students 3 days per week.
The successful appointee will also assume responsibility within General Surgery 2 days a week, working at ST1 level, and will complete wardbased clinical duties with the Surgical Department.
This post would be suited to an individual who has a special interest in Medical Education. The successful candidate will have the opportunity togain further insight and experience of teaching undergraduate students within a clinical environment.
Please note this dual role comprises approximately 24 hours for Undergraduate teaching and 16 hours as a Rotational Medical Doctor at ST1 level, however flexibility may be required from the successful candidate.

Main duties of the job
To support multi-disciplinary undergraduate teaching across Manchester and Edge Hill Medical School curriculum within Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh Teaching Hospitals. The post holder will be expected to teach across a wide range of medical and surgical specialties.
There will be groups of medical students who will need to be provided with clinical teaching each week.
Outside of teaching duty (3 days per week), the post holder will complete appropriate duties as a member of the general surgery team.

- Year 3 and Year 5 medical students from the Manchester Medical School (MMS) at the University of Manchester, posted to the WWL FT.
- Year 1 and Year 2 Physician Associate students from Edge Hill University Medical School (EHUMS) posted to WWL FT
- Year 2 Year 4 medical students from Edge Hill Medical School (EHUMS) posted to WWL FT
- Preparation and delivery of clinical teaching to undergraduate students hosted by WWL, ensuring the requirements of each curriculum are met.
- The successful candidate(s) will provide teaching as per curriculum requirements of the medical school.
- Outside of the teaching duty, the post holder will complete appropriate clinical duties (commensurate with the level of an ST1 doctor) as a member of the Surgical Team.
- To have prior involvement in undergraduate or other structured training/teaching including transferable skills from outside the clinical practice.
- Assistance with the planning and organisation of student activities as outlined by the appropriate undergraduate curriculum.
- Delivery of patient care to the ward-based patients
- Be a member of the General Surgical team completing wards rounds and completing ward jobs as commensurate with the grade.
