Job summary

At WWL, due to the secondment of our Deputy Chief People Officer we are backfilling to this senior people leadership role for between 9-12 months. The role is varied and highly influential with responsibility for the wider People Services team.

You will join us at a time when we work on the development of the People Strategy, aligned to the long term NHS Workforce Plan. You will also have the opportunity to lead and have involvement in projects under our sustainable workforce programme e.g. recruitment and retention, attendance management support (Empactis) and Workforce Planning as well as wider leadership initiatives such as ED&I, Just & Learning Culture and leadership development.

This role will offer an excellent opportunity in a Trust renowned for its staff engagement, development and quality of services. On a personal level, it will allow the right person to influence and shape the way in which we support our workforce to be the best it can be through active involvement in our "Our Family, Our Focus, Our Future" Programme. You will join a high achieving, compassionate and committed team of people, working on projects across Greater Manchester and the Wigan locality, with WWL as a key anchor institution.

Main duties of the job

To work with the Chief People Officer in designing and implementing the Trust's People strategy, corporate objectives and Trust wide transformation programmes. The post holder will be responsible for operationally managing a full range and high quality People Services to WWL, across the whole portfolio of services:

The postholder will take a lead role in developing and implementing key workforce strategies to meet organisational need. The post holder will also ensure the Trust operates with forward thinking person centred employment policy and practice and will maintain a positive partnership with staff-side and trade union colleagues.

  • Masters in HR Management or equivalent experience
  • Chartered Member CIPD
  • Degree or equivalent experience
  • Evidence of CPD

Desirable

  • Coaching / mentoring qualification
  • Fellow of CIPD
  • Management qualification

Experience

  • Significant experience at a senior level, gained in a progressive People Services function.
  • Direct experience of managing highly complex employee relations activity, including management of MHPS activity
  • Management of large complex projects and transformational change
  • Management of an OD / staff engagement function

Desirable

  • HR / OD experience in an acute and community Trust
  • Experience of leading delivery of health and wellbeing strategy
  • Experience at a senior level managing a progressive medical HR service
