An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Sister/Charge Nurse who wishes to further their career within the Medicine Division, as a Ward Manager on Lowton ward.
The post holder will act as a role model to all team members in the delivery of a high standard of evidenced based nursing or midwifery care. They will utilise effective management and leadership skills in the operational management of ward/area/department. They will be responsible for the management of all nursing/midwifery staff in the area from the selection and recruitment of staff to managing their personal and professional development. They will act as a role model and mentor to staff and students in establishing a positive learning environment where staff can develop to their full potential and work in conjunction with the Head of Nursing/Midwifery and matron to implement the recommendations of the strategy for nurses and midwives.

Main duties of the job
You will have experience of dealing with acute illnesses with a proven professional background at an advanced level within nursing. You need to be able to lead and develop a team, promoting excellence whilst supporting the Deputy Ward Managers in all aspects of department management. Excellent communication skills and flexibility to meet the needs of the service are required. You will be involved in developing and implementing initiatives to improve the patient experience. You will becommitted to providing high quality care to a range of patients with differing needs and be willing to embrace new role opportunities and expand your role as the service develops.
