Data Scientist

Job responsibilities

• Be responsible for delivering high-impact Data Science projects, in coordination with the P. and Snr. Data Scientists and stakeholders.
• Be involved in the direction of Data Science strategy across the Trust.
• Develop and deploy intelligent modelling and predictive systems using advanced analytical techniques and programming languages such as R and/or Python.
• Apply statistical knowledge to effectively model and analyse a variety of disparate data to make recommendations based on findings to improve operational, tactical, and strategic business decisions.
• Continually develop their own skills, and their Teams skills, to ensure Data Science solutions are state-of-the-art.
• Work with the Data Science team to promote Data Science across the Trust and local community, and to build relationships Trust-wide to provide the best Data Science solutions possible

Qualifications

Essential

• Educated to Bachelors (BSc) Level in a STEM field. Alternatively 1 year+ of experience as a Data Analyst/Scientist.
• Evidence of professional and /or personal self-development.

Desirable

• MSc in a STEM field with strong experience. Alternatively 2 years+ experience as a Data Analyst/Data Scientist

Experience

Essential

• Experience and expertise in data analysis through data mining and modelling in a practical environment
• Knowledge of machine learning, statistical learning, simulation, optimisation and advanced multivariate statistics
• Experience using R or Python
• Use of Statistics / Forecasting
• Experience of Identifying Data Quality Issues

Desirable

• Health Informatics Experience
• Experience of working in a busy NHS Acute Trust/Community information department.
• Experience of supporting clinicians and management in the provision and interpretation of information.
• Experience of Statistics / Forecasting
• Experience of Qlik Sense
• Experience of using Structured Query Language (SQL)
• Understanding of medical records procedures.
