SQL Data Warehouse Developer

Job responsibilities

• To play a key role in the development of data analytics applications using Trust Data analytics (BI) tools eg. Snowflake, SQL Server to deliver datasets to meet the aims of the Data analytics Strategy and the needs of the organisation.

• Liaise with IM&T Teams to ensure that the most up to date datasets and feeds are available via the data warehouse, tables and databases to ensure that reporting and submissions are based on the most accurate data definitions available.

• Establish and Maintain relationships with colleagues to ensure smooth operation of systems, resolution of complicated problems and system upgrades.

• Work with users to resolve problems and issues with data analytics software.
• Conduct briefing sessions and training days for in relation to the use and interpretation of the data analytics applications.

• Utilising the post holders SQL knowledge to work with clients in developing new datasets for reporting applications and ensuring effective capture of end user requirements. To work and ensure that all reporting solutions to meet business requirements and ensure that the business requirements are met.

• To communicate effectively, and work well in a team.
• Responsible for the database design relating to table builds for key developments within the Trusts data warehouse.
• To automate extraction and reporting of existing and new data flows.

Qualifications

Essential

• Educated to Degree standard in Mathematics, Statistics, Science, IT or similar relevant subject. Alternatively work knowledge & experience of equivalent level
• Evidence of professional development for example MCTS qualification or attending accredited IT courses
• IT qualification

Desirable

• Project Management qualification (such as Prince2)
• IT Service Management Qualification (such as ITIL)
• Microsoft SQL Certification
• UK Chip Level 2

Experience

Essential

• oMinimum of 2 Years' Experience using Microsoft SQL Server BI Stack SSMS/SSIS writing advance SQL
• oExperience of Designing and Building Relational Databases / Data Warehouses
• oExperience of Assisting, Capturing and Documenting Customer Requirements
• oExperience of Identifying, Managing or Communicating Data Quality Issues
• oPlanning, creation and implementation of software developments within a data warehouse

Desirable

• oHealth Informatics Experience
• oExperience of supporting clinicians and management in the provision and interpretation of information.
• oProven track record creating project work plans to tight Deadlines.
• oExperience Training and Mentoring Staff.
• oExperience of the Snowflake cloud data platform
• oExperience of Azure Data Factory v2

• oSkills in writing advanced SQL

• oThorough working knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server BI Stack
• oKnowledge and Awareness of current and emerging BI technologies in order to best advise on future direction and systems development.
• oThorough working knowledge of Business Intelligence, its Purpose, Potential and Future Direction
• oThorough working knowledge of the Extract Transform Load (ETL) layer within a data warehouse environment

Desirable

• Knowledge of Kimball and Inmon Data Warehouse Design principles
• Knowledge of the Snowflake Cloud Data Platform
• Knowledge of Azure Data Factory v2
• Knowledge of any other programming language
• Knowledge of Hospital / Clinical & Acute systems
• An understanding of National datasets and central reporting in use in the NHS
• Knowledge of Data Protection Act, Information Governance and Security and Confidentiality
