Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity to join the Staff Experience Department at Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh (WWL) Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in an influential and dynamic role supporting the Trust's Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) agenda. A successful candidate will have a unique opportunity to drive forwards our EDI people strategy.

You will play a lead role in not only shaping how EDI is delivered at WWL. You will also lead on key EDI projects, including supporting our staff inclusion networks and ensuring our colleagues have a positive experience at work and have equal opportunities to flourish in their roles.

This vacancy is open to all internal and external candidates. NHS Employees should ideally secure their manager's agreement for a secondment arrangement ideally prior to applying, as this will be a condition of any offer made. This vacancy is advertised on a fixed term basis due to funding and will end 12 months from start date. Whilst this post is advertised on an acting / secondment basis there is the potential that this post may become permanent in the future.

Main duties of the job

To be successful in the role, you will need to:

  • Have a strong understanding and knowledge of EDI theory and practice
  • Experience of leading EDI programmes
  • Ability to build close relationships with a diverse range of staff
  • Ability to influence key stakeholders around the benefits and ethical implications of EDI, and our EDI priorities
  • A strong passion for EDI and embedding best practice processes and policies

In this role, you will be:

    • Reporting into the Head of Staff Experience and working closely with the EDI Lead for Service and Patients.
    • Have line management responsibility for an EDI administrator
    • Working within the Staff Experience Team consisting of the Wellbeing and Psychological Support Services, Organisational Development and Learning and Development Teams

  • Relevant Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree qualifications or equivalent experience in a specialist area relevant to EDI

Desirable

  • Professional qualification in HR/OD/Organisational Psychology
  • Further post graduate qualifications/certificates relating to EDI
  • Professional Registration (e.g. CIPD)

Experience

Essential

  • Significant experience of embedding EDI evidence based best practice, process and policies within everyday business and specific projects.
  • Demonstrable experience of designing and delivering good quality EDI awareness raising, education and training to all levels of staff.
  • Produce high quality strategies, policies, reports and related communications.
  • Excellent project and programme management to deliver to agreed deadlines
  • Supporting staff to complete equality analyses and carrying out equality analyses.
  • Experience of leading improvement programmes for staff
