In its ResearchStrategy 2022-26 Research for All, Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (WWL) outlined the Trust's path to growth of research not just within the Trust butalso across the community healthcare framework. The Trust has made acommitment to develop research across the patient care pathway serving our community, by developing thecollaboration of the Healthier WiganPartnershipthat bringstogether the Council, Primary Care, Community services, Commissioners and the Trust.
Following a successful strategic project award from the Greater Manchester Clinical Research Network, WWL is excited to invite applications to a new Research Partnership/ Engagement Manager role to accelerate discussions with our health and care providers. The role will work alongside the Senior Research Management Team to develop research partnerships and longer-term relationships with health and social care partners and also to support patient engagement to inform our research across the Wigan Borough, maximising our research potential and ability to meet the needs of our patients.
The Team works closely with NHS clinicians, universities and industry partners to give our local population the opportunity to take part in research studies. We have developed a wide portfolio of studies and have a growing reputation in clinical research, regionally, nationally and worldwide.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for delivery of 4 main workstreams of the 12-month strategic project working closely with the Senior Research Management Team.
1 - scoping and engaging - raising awareness of research, building a register of people, facilities and capability; to inform a plan for increasing research readiness and capacity and capability across the Borough and surrounding areas.
2 - Increasing Research Readiness and encouraging community-based Principal Investigators. Developing and implementing a training plan to increase knowledge and awareness of research, developing our local community-based research infrastructure.
3 - Creating pilot partnerships in Research Delivery. The role will establish pilot partnerships and Memorandums of Understanding/Service Level Agreements, identifying the opportunities to work in collaboration, and support/advise partners in seeking funding to increase their own infrastructure.
4 - Patient and Stakeholder Engagement to inspire interest about health and care research, garnering an understanding of how services affect them and seeking involvement in designing and helping to steer the direction of research to improve health and care.

On-Call
