Job summary

We are an acute Teaching Hospital Trust and are looking recruitment 2 HR Advisors to join our Business Services Team.

In these varied and busy roles you will support the Senior HRBP (Surgery Division) or Senior HRBP (Corporate Division and Sterile Services and Decontamination Departments).

The successful candidates will be qualified to degree level (or with demonstrable equivalent experience) and hold CIPD Graduate level membership with experience of working in a large and complex organisation supporting clinical or corporate services.

You will be autonomous in your role and be responsible for working in partnership with our People Managers in providing pragmatic, responsive, legally compliant and value adding HR advice, to meet the People Strategy, Workforce and Divisional Corporate objectives.

You will have a sound knowledge of employment law and have the ability to interpret case law and its application. You will be required to effectively prioritise and organise your own caseload and conflicting demands upon your time.

Main duties of the job

The HR Advisor is responsible for the delivery of a proactive, effective, and high-quality Human Resource service to Divisional Managers, Medical Managers, and employees, which is responsive to the needs of the organisation.

The post holder will be responsible for delivering operational HR, ensuring the provision is efficient, effective, and business focused within recognised external and internal standards. The post holder will ensure that the service can meet the evolving needs of managers and employees in the Trust in line with the People Strategy, the quality agenda for patients and service users and develop systems to deliver an excellent HR service. They will support HR colleagues to develop the people management capability of line managers, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to handle staff management responsibilities.

As a critical member of the HR team, the post holder will support Trust Divisions, under the direction of the Senior HR Business Partner, to deliver the Trust's People strategy.

The post holder may also be required to take a supportive role on some Trust wide initiative / developments or HR projects.

They will deputise for the Senior HR Business Partner when required.

We support agile working, however there will be a requirement to travel to other Trust sites as required.

  • Work with the Senior HR Business Partners to provide a focused and bespoke approach to operational HR management across the The post holder will use an internal consultancy approach enabling them to research, respond, design and delivery bespoke HR solutions to Divisional problems. Key to this approach is ensuring that there is a clear understanding of the need for consistency in service provided to the Divisions.
  • Provide professional HR advice and support to staff and managers across the Trust.
  • To work with all HR professionals across each function to ensure that lessons are learned, and the service is business focussed
  • Align own practice to the delivery of the Trusts Corporate Objectives and People Strategy, and thereby drive the delivery of divisional Performance Management against agreed HR Indicators / targets.
  • Develop key relationships with internal service users to determine key service requirements.
  • Advise medical staff, Managers and employees on the interpretation and application of terms and conditions of employment, Trust policies, current legislation, and Codes of Practice, ensuring that good employment practices are developed, maintained and that legal obligations are upheld
  • Advise medical staff, managers on job planning process and use of Allocate job planning system
  • Provide professional advice and support to Managers / Medical Managers dealing with employment issues, including the use of the Trusts disciplinary, grievance and capability procedures, ensuring that procedures are followed and fairly and consistently applied. This will include support around the preparation and management of Employment Tribunals as appropriate
  • Support managers / Medical Managers in developing and maintaining Personal Development Review systems, ensuring that staff in the Divisions are appraised annually and have a Personal Development Plan in line with Trust Policy.
  • Advise Managers / Medical managers on the management of attendance, taking action as appropriate, and ensuring a consistent approach amongst the Management Team, to assist in reducing levels of absenteeism and thereby maximising Proactively support divisional management to actively review and manage both Long and Short-Term Absenteeism in line with Trust Policy.
