An opportunity for a motivated Nurse to join our established School Aged Immunisation Service (SAIS) delivering the School Age vaccination programme in schools and community clinics in Staffordshire and Stoke on Trent
The successful candidates will demonstrate enthusiasm, energy and a passion for delivering the best care possible and have knowledge of the childhood immunisation schedule particularly in relation to the flu vaccinations. The job role requires good time management, leadership and IT skills and you will be expected to work on your own initiative as well as within a team. There will be an expectation to drive the vans that the service use to transport vaccinations to and from sessions
You will promote vaccination and where appropriate, the health of children aged 0-19 within the Staffordshire and Stoke on Trent areas through the public health agenda, thus enabling each child to reach his/her development, and educational potential.
We are looking for applicants who can work the core hours of 8am - 4pm Monday - Friday but with flexibility to be able to work evenings and/or weekends to meet the needs of the service.
Main duties of the job
- To adhere to and apply the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) Code of Conduct and all other relevant guidance from the Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC) and the Trust. To be professionally accountable and responsible for all aspects of own work.2. To undertake appropriate health assessments prior to Immunisation, in line with national guidance, Immunisation policy and the best evidence based practice. To deliver the immunisations ensuring safe and best practice is maintained inline with trust policy and the national recommendations within a variety of settings.3. As required, respond to outbreak situations which require immunisations to be delivered as part of the incident management of the NHSE / UKHSA.4. To maintain and develop skills and knowledge to deliver a range ofinterventions and set an example of good practice to other team members including skill sharing.5. To adhere to Staffordshire Safeguarding Children Board's guidelines, to identify and report any case of suspected or confirmed abuse.6. To take every reasonable step to see that the working environment is safe, healthy and hazard free for staff and users, including infection control procedures7. Motivate individuals, communities and other professionals and agencies to recognise the importance of immunisations and the protection they provide to individuals and communities currently and in the future. To provide professional and clinical support and leadership to identified team members.
