Senior Clinical Pharmacist or Clinical Pharmacist Step 6/7 - Rotational post. Cross site working (Stafford/Stoke-on-Trent)

We are delighted to offer an exciting developmental opportunity for a motivated pharmacist to join our expanding Pharmacy & Medicines Optimisation team at MPFT. This unique cross-site rotational post spans both mental health and community hospital (physical health) services, providing rich clinical experience across diverse specialties.

This post is suitable for both experienced pharmacists (Band 7) and newly qualified/early-career pharmacists, who will be appointed at Band 6 and supported via a structured competency-based framework to progress to Band 7.

  • Deliver high-quality clinical pharmacy services across inpatient wards, rehabilitation services, and community mental health teams.
  • Provide expert medicines-related advice to multidisciplinary teams, service users, and carers.
  • Participate in medicines optimisation initiatives, clinical audits, QI projects, and service development.
  • Contribute to clinical governance, dispensary supervision, education and training, and research activity across the Trust.
  • Develop advanced practice skills, with support toward independent prescribing and leadership responsibilities.

This developmental post provides structured training for a pharmacist to transition from Band 6 to Band 7, working across mental health and community hospital (physical health) settings. The postholder will gain clinical experience in both sectors and on completion of agreed competency framework band 6 will be stepped up to band 7.

1. The post holder will provide clinical pharmacist service to range of patient services including inpatient wards and out-patient clinics

2. The post holder will be required to communicate complex medicines related information to prescribers, service users and carers taking account of barriers of understanding.

3. The post holder will require skills for analysing and interpreting medicines information based on specialist knowledge and understanding.

4. The post holder will plan and organise their own workload including the delivery of training sessions, completion of audits and a range of QI project work.

5. The post holder will provide highly specialist advice concerning patient care.

6. The post holder will be involved in proposing policy and service changes that impact beyond their area.
