Senior Support Worker - CYP Eating Disorders

Job summary

We are looking for a compassionate and motivated Senior Support Workerto join ourChildren and Young People's Eating Disorders Team. This is an exciting opportunity to support young people and their families through recovery while working as part of a supportive multi-disciplinary team.

In this role, you will work directly with children and young people experiencing eating disorders, helping them and their families build healthier routines, improve wellbeing and remain supported within their home and community.

What You'll Do

  • Support children and young people and their families with eating disorder recovery plans
  • Help stabilise eating patterns and develop positive routines
  • Work alongside clinicians to deliver agreed care plans and interventions
  • Monitor and record physical health observations such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature and weight
  • Support psychoeducation groups and family interventions
  • Identify changes in wellbeing and escalate concerns appropriately
  • Encourage young people to engage in education, activities and community life

What We're Looking For

You'll be someone who is compassionate, organised and confident working with young people and families in a community setting.

Experience in eating disorders and physical health monitoring is helpful including Bloods & ECG, butfull training can be provided for the right candidate.

Main duties of the job

  • Support young people with daily routines, mealtimes, and structured therapeutic activities.
  • Provide practical and emotional support to young people and families in line with individual care plans.
  • Assist in delivery of therapeutic interventions and psychoeducational sessions under the supervision of qualified staff.
  • Promote recovery, independence, and positive coping strategies.
  • Observe, monitor, and report any changes in presentation, behaviour, or physical health to senior staff.
  • Contribute to creating a therapeutic and safe environment

Experience

  • Significant experience of working with children with Mental Health Needs as a member of a multidisciplinary community team Experience of working within a multi-agency framework
  • Experience of formulating a child's difficulties and developing a care plan
  • Experience of employing evidenced based interventions with children
  • Experience of supporting other workers and role modelling recommended approaches / interventions in practice.
