Lead Specialist Practitioner
NHS AfC: Band 7
Three opportunities have arisen for us to recruit to fixed term Lead Specialist Practitioner District Nursing roles. We are looking for applicants who can provide strong clinical leadership and support safe and effective care for service users.
Across the North Alliance (Newcastle, Staffordshire Moorlands and Stoke) we have the following vacancies:
2 days per week fixed term for 12 months (1-day North Alliance Clinic and 1-day LAP Weaver House, Cheadle Hospital, Staffs ),
5 days fixed term for 6 months, (Newcastle Central PCN, based at Milehouse Primary Care Centre) and
5 days fixed term for 9 months (Meir PCN based at Longton Health Centre)
Main duties of the job
You will utilise their enhanced assessment skills to support decision-making and be competent and confident across areas of practice that include but are not limited to wound care, end of life care, prescribing, diabetes management, and medication administration.
You will work closely with the Operational Team and other senior nurses in the team to share responsibility for organising the day-to-day running of the caseload, managing emerging risks, supporting effective reporting and governance and agreeing service transformation priorities.
You will support staff development in the service by providing mentorship and supervision to pre and post registered nurses.
The successful candidates will be those who are keen and willing to work within a new service delivery model and develop the role further to support our teams. You will be expected to foster good relationships with both internal and external partners, along with other members of the MDT.
You will need to be highly motivated and enthusiastic, have excellent communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills and an ability to challenge practice as needed. You will be able to demonstrate competence in core community nursing clinical skills and a willingness to learn and share knowledge.
These roles can be offered Band 6 Development post, supported with a development plan and mentorship and will be uplifted to a Band 7 upon completion of the development plan. Secondments will be considered.
