Senior Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner - Fixed Term

This role is based in the Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin NHS Talking Therapies Service (IAPT) and it aims to develop the Step 2 service provision within NHS Talking Therapies.

In the role you will offer evidence-based practice in facilitated self-help, CBT and stress management groups. They will develop, support and provide training in innovative practice to trainee and qualified NHS Talking Therapies psychological well-being practitioners. In addition, there is a significant case management and clinical supervision component to the post.

You will work with people with different cultural backgrounds and ages, using interpreters when necessary and may be called upon to work in various community settings (including GP surgeries and other, 3rd sector, settings) and psychological treatment centres.

Main duties of the job

  • Provide assessment and Step 2 interventions eg psycho-educational interventions, Guided Self Help, computerised CBT to patients registered with GP practices/health centres and or resident in Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin, drawing from CBT theories and techniques.
  • Provide a service that is comprehensive and accessible to a broad range of patients who have commonplace mental health problems and who are over 16 years of age.
  • To provide a service that is equitable and non-discriminatory in terms of age, gender, ethnicity and disability.
  • Provide clinical supervision to qualified and trainee PWP's within the NHS talking Therapies team.
  • Liaison with educational providers of the PGCERT LIPI and Apprenticeship PWP training courses to meet the joint learning agreement.
  • Regularly assess and sign off all supervisees clinical competency for training and ongoing registration requirements.
  • Have theoretical and practical clinical knowledge of Low Intensity Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.
